For producers working within tight timelines, Vietnam offers a rare advantage: the ability to capture a wide range of cinematic environments withing a single, efficient shoot schedule. Verdant paddies, marble mountains, tropical coastlines, ancient relics, and kinetic cities — Vietnam offers a visual range that reflects whatever a production seeks.
But what makes the country stand out today isn’t just how it looks. It’s how it works.
At a time when productions are under pressure to move faster, do more with less, and still deliver cinematic results, Vietnam has emerged as the right place at the right time — a stable, production-friendly environment with experienced crews, improving infrastructure, and a depth of locations that remains, in many ways, still untapped by the lens.
At CREATVAsia (The CREATV Company), we’ve spent over three decades supporting international productions filming in Vietnam. We bridge creative ambition—as well as cultures and languages—with on-the-ground realities, structuring shoots to run efficiently from recce to wrap.
Designed for agile productions with teams of 30 or fewer, the framework that follows is ideal for documentary, travel and lifestyle content, news, as well as emerging creators operating in mobile, fast-paced production environments.
This shift isn’t limited to traditional production. A new generation of content creators—from independent filmmakers to digital storytellers—is increasingly looking to Vietnam for its combination of visual impact and practical accessibility.
In this context, Vietnam’s key advantage becomes clear: it’s not just the diversity — it’s how efficiently that diversity can be accessed. A 7-Day Shooting Framework Across Vietnam Within a single week of shooting, it’s possible to move across five distinct environments—each offering a different tone, pace and visual language—without fragmenting the production schedule.
For smaller teams in particular, this kind of routing allows for a level of flexibility that’s increasingly important in both broadcast and digital-first production.
The following schedule is based on shoot days only, excluding crew movement, equipment logistics and inter-city transfers.

Day 1-2: Hanoi
Historic texture and urban character
Hanoi offers one of the most production-efficient urban environments in the region, with multiple distinct looks accessible within a tight radius.
Colonial architecture, shaded boulevards, ancient pagodas, lakeside vistas and the dense energy of the Old Quarter can all be captured within a single shooting day. With the right planning, setups can be consolidated without heavy company moves.
Hanoi rewards early call times. Mornings are key to maximizing production value — the city’s pacing and streets are far friendlier to controlled shooting before it roars to life.

Day 3: Danang / Hoi An
Coastal scale, heritage and visual diversity
Da Nang combines long, clean beachfronts with modern infrastructure and very infrequent vehicular and pedestrian congestion — making it one of Vietnam’s most production-friendly cities.
Within the same schedule, nearby Hoi An introduces a contrasting heritage environment, allowing productions a 180-degree tone shift without relocating base.
What sets this region apart is its range across budgets and styles. At the high end, large-scale, highly challenging shoot environments such as Ba Na Hills are accessible for productions with the scope to match. At the other end, smaller, highly characterful locations—from rice field cafés around Hoi An to the forested slopes of Son Tra—offer visually rich setups with minimal footprint.
The region is also seeing a surge in younger, globally mobile creatives and digital nomads, adding to its energy and making it particularly relevant for contemporary, digital-first content.

Day 4: Nha Trang / Cam Ranh
A coastal production corridor
Nha Trang is best understood as a coastal corridor rather than a single location.
Within a one-hour radius, productions can access urban beachfront, quieter bays, clear-water coastlines and resort environments—often with lower density and greater control than elsewhere in the country. The region also benefits from one of Vietnam’s most favorable microclimates, with over 250 sunny days per year.
This allows crews to base in one location while achieving multiple coastal looks—reducing movement and preserving both time and budget.
Cam Ranh, in particular, offers resort environments well suited to lifestyle, hospitality and commercial work. To the north, Ninh Van Bay provides more secluded, high-end settings for productions seeking luxury and privacy.
Beyond the beach is a treasure trove of locations from Po Nagar Tower – the remnants of the Cham Dynasty compound dating to 781 A.D., the bucolic countryside along the Cai River and numerous spas and springs where mud baths are among the top attractions.

"Vietnam's advantage isn't just its diversity -- it's how efficiently that diversity can be accessed."
Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City
Energy, scale and production depth
Ho Chi Minh City delivers not just visual energy, but operational depth anchored by the home advantage of CREATVAsia (The CREATV Company).
It’s a vast and dynamic city, yet remarkably navigable for production. Crews, equipment, suppliers and support services are readily available—allowing productions to scale quickly and adapt setups with minimal delay.
It also functions as a southern hub, with efficient access to surrounding regions.
For productions looking to explore what's possible, CREATVAsia (The CREATV Company) supports every stage of the production services process -- from initial planning to implementation on the ground.

Day 6-7: Mekong Delta
Water, movement and authenticity
The Mekong Delta introduces a different shooting dynamic—one shaped by water, light and daily rhythm.
Production here is often built around early morning activity, when floating markets are most active and the light is at its most cinematic. Movement happens by boat, and schedules adapt accordingly.
It requires more coordination—but delivers a level of authenticity that’s difficult to replicate elsewhere.
A Staying Strategy Accommodation isn’t just about comfort—it’s about keeping the production moving. This flexibility is particularly valuable for smaller, mobile teams, including digital creators who often operate with tighter setups and faster turnaround times.
We maintain long-standing relationships with hotels across the country and can secure preferred rates at properties that support operational efficiency while ensuring the comfort and facilities your team requires.
Hanoi - International and heritage properties with strong central access - Meeting rooms widely available - Old Quarter access requires careful planning
Central Vietnam (Da Nang / Hoi An / Hue) - Resort-driven and production-friendly - Excellent access and loading zones - Conference facilities adaptable as production offices
Nha Trang / Cam Ranh - Ideal for controlled, larger-scale setups - Resort layouts support basecamp-style operations - Strong suite and villa inventory
Ho Chi Minh City - Primary southern production base - Preferred: New World Hotel - Excellent access, multiple meeting spaces, full room range
Mekong Delta
- Simpler, but functional with some key properties that can deliver true international-standards
- Best suited to short stays tied to location work
- Requires tighter coordination, but manageable Why Vietnam Works Now
